Mission Statement

About Bay Medical Foundation

The cornerstone for Bay Medical Foundation was laid in 1972 when citizens in the community raised $3 million to build the nucleus of Bay Regional Medical Center. In 1978, Bay Medical Foundation was established as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.

Today, the Foundation's Board of Trustees is made up of 35 community members who volunteer their time and expertise. They establish policy and make decisions regarding use of funds throughout Bay Regional Medical Center and Bay Special Care, our extended-stay acute hospital.

Several standing committees are responsible for seeking funds from various sources, assuring funds are appropriately invested and allocated, and that donors are properly acknowledged with regard to their contributions.

These committees are:

Annual Fund Committee - is responsible for creating, coordinating, conducting and evaluating annual campaigns. The annual campaign should provide an opportunity for the members of the greater Bay Area to assist the Foundation with funding focuses through a concerted effort, initiated by direct mail.
Planned Giving Committee/Endowment Fund Builders - coordinates the planned giving or estate planning activities designed to encourage donors to remember the Foundation in their wills, or through bequests, trusts, annuities, property, insurance gifts, etc. The Planned Giving Committee sponsors Estate Planning Seminars periodically to inform & educate the public on various means of charitable giving.
Finance and Investment Committee - makes recommendations to the full board for investing Foundation funds in as safe and profitable a way as possible.
Grants Committee - Monitors the availability of funds, accepts requests and makes recommendations to the Board for disbursement of assets.
Marketing and Public Relations Committee - identifies organizational needs to promote the general Foundation purposes and create better awareness of the Foundation activities and funds granted for various programs. This group reviews various brochures and publications to assure focus on different targeted audiences. The Committee is responsible for developing and conducting the Annual meeting.

Contributors choose giving categories where they wish their donations to be placed in memory of loved ones. The event consists of a program of inspirational words/poems and names of those honored are read as well as a reception with snacks. Those honored will also have their photos and names placed in the hospital lobby during the program and then in the chapel after the program
