- Bay EMS began in 1973 as a Basic Life Support Agency.
In 1978, Bay EMS began services as an Advanced Life Support Agency.
- One of the premiere First Responder Programs in the
U.S.
- Received special tribute from Michigan Legislature, and tribute in The
U.S. Congressional Record for
over 30 years’ service.
- All EMS staff certified in Prehospital Trauma Life
Support (PHTLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ALCS). EMT teams work
12-hour shifts, three days a week.
- Ten Advanced Life Support ambulances. Veteran Staff
of more than 50, including EMTs, EMT Specialists, Paramedics, Dispatchers
- Along with Bay County’s fire and police departments,
Bay EMS responds to all emergencies.
- Main emergency responses: Heart attacks, strokes, car
accidents, assaults, respiratory and diabetic problems.
- Bay EMS responds to more 16,000 emergency and
non-emergency requests per year. We serve Bay County, with a resident
population of 108,000. Average response time: 3-4 minutes within the
city. Available for transport and transfer calls anywhere in the state.
- Holds state-approved continuing education programs for companies and

- Ongoing training and drills in emergency preparedness and disaster
planning, including a Weapons of Mass Destruction awareness program.
