Living in Bay County

Bay Regional Medical Center is fortunate to be located in Bay County, one of the finest educational, recreational, and cultural areas in the Great Lakes. Bay County enjoys a very low crime rate, excellent shopping, and a wide variety of housing options. Colleges and universities are within commuting distances, and diverse geography allows for a home on the river or bay, in the country, city, or suburbs. Classic and stately homes, dating back to the rich lumber history of the area, newer suburban housing, country-club condo, and apartment living combine to provide something for everyone's taste.
Part of what makes Bay County uniquely family-oriented is its rich religious heritage, dating back hundreds of years, featuring parishes of many denominations.
Arts fairs, concerts in the park, one of the oldest community theatres in the nation, an excellent library system, the Delta Planetarium, several museums and a new art gallery are just some of the cultural offerings in Bay County.
Saginaw Valley State University, Delta College, business schools, and excellent public and parochial school systems prepare students to compete in the business world. Two and four-year degrees, as well as post-graduate studies in several curricula, are offered at local universities and through extension programs. Licensed day care and nursery schools offer a variety of early childhood development opportunities.
Bay County offers a wide variety of sporting and recreational activities, with golf on public and private courses, a civic ice arena with two rinks, tennis, softball, active running and biking clubs, camping, water sports, and some of the best fishing in the world. Winter sports are just as plentiful, with nearby cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, and hunting.
Bay County is located in east central Michigan on Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay, two hours north of Detroit.
