Heart Attack Symptoms/Warnings

Some heart attacks are sudden and intense.  However, most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort.

Often people aren't sure what is wrong and wait too long before getting help.  Here are signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:

Chest discomfort that lasts more than a few minutes in the center of the chest, or that goes away and comes back.

Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.

Pain Spreading to the shoulder, arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach area.

Shortness of breath, anxiety, nervousness and/or cold sweaty skin.  Nausea or lightheadedness.

Not all of these signs occur in every attack.  Some go away and then return.  If some occur, get help fast - every second counts!

Call 9-1-1 or your Emergency Medical Services and get to a hospital right away!
