Minor Emergency Treated Next

Life-threatening and serious conditions get first attention. Delays in treating less urgent illnesses or injuries may occur when the Emergency Department is occupied with a major accident or medical emergency. If you arrive at the Emergency Department during one of these times, and your condition is not serious, your care may be delayed. We will make every effort take care of your needs as soon as possible.

After treatment, most minor injuries or illnesses do not require a return visit to the Emergency Department. When you are discharged, you will receive follow-up instructions and you will be referred to your personal physician or a specialist. However, some injuries or problems require a return to the Emergency Department for follow-up treatment. Check with your insurance company regarding any restrictions on follow-up care. No appointment is necessary, but please come between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m. when the Emergency Department is less likely to be busy.
